The experience

If this is your first time shooting boudoir (or even if you’ve done it before!) we understand that you’re going to be both excited and nervous. Lori and her team have all been in front of the camera many times themselves and know exactly what you’re feeling – anxiety!

Well never fear. It’s women only on the set, and we’ll guide you through the whole process with clear directions and lots of laughs. Each of our clients walks in the door nervous, but walks out wondering what the heck they were worried about!

This is a once in a lifetime experience (well, actually, many of our clients come back more than once after they find out how fun and empowering it is), and we want you to enjoy every minute of it.

To that end, the more information you have, the better you’ll feel, so read on and learn how it all works.

The process

Pre-Shoot: On the phone or via email we will discuss what you’d like to do as far as the theme/style of the shoot, clothing, props, or any special requests you may have. Your shoot is about you and only you – we don’t run a “boudoir/portrait mill.” It’s important to us that we discover what you want to illustrate and bring out through your photo session. Next we’ll set up the day and time of your shoot, as well as your image reveal session. A $100 non-refundable deposit is needed to hold your shooting date. The balance of your package is due the day of your shoot.

Shoot Day: Bring your selection of outfits, shoes and accessories. When you arrive at the studio you’ll be greeted by Lori and the make-up artist, and we’ll sit down together, see what you’ve brought and brainstorm the final plans for the shoot. Then you’ll settle in with the make-up artist where you’ll be pampered and feel like a movie star while she works her magic on you, and the three of us chat, giggle over coffee or champagne, and listen to music.

When it’s time to start shooting, don’t worry! You don’t need to know a thing about posing as Lori will guide you through the whole process. By the time you’re done, you’ll be ready to strut down the catwalk on your own. The whole process will take about 4 hours from start to finish.

Image reveal and ordering session: Your exciting image reveal session will take place 1-2 weeks after your shoot (if you’re coming from far away, we can make alternative arrangements). At that time, we’ll sit down and look at your gorgeous images on the computer. We’ll also discuss you’re specific choices regarding your albums, folio boxes, prints, or digital collections, and we’ll have samples of everything on hand. We’ll also discuss your retouching preferences at that time.

Turn around time on your products is generally 4-6 weeks. If you need them sooner, please don’t hesitate to ask about rush options. We take checks, cash, Paypal, and the big four credit cards.
